Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Fe65 protein family and functions as an adaptor protein localized in the nucleus. It interacts with Alzheimer’s disease amyloid precursor protein (APP), transcription factor CP2/LSF/LBP1, and low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein. APP acts as a cytosolic anchoring site preventing the nuclear translocation of this protein. The encoded protein may play an important role in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis, regulate transcription, and block cell cycle progression by downregulating thymidylate synthase expression. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though some full-length sequences are unknown.
