Target Information
The protein encoded by the PPM1B gene belongs to the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases, which are known to negatively regulate cell stress response pathways.
PPM1B dephosphorylates cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and may play a role in cell cycle control. Overexpression can lead to cell-growth arrest or cell death.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Some additional variants have been described but do not represent full-length sequences.
