FDFT1의 프로모터 활성 및 스테롤 반응성 손실은 전사 시작점에서 131 bp 상류에 위치한 69-bp 구간에 국한된다.
이 영역에는 다른 스테롤 조절 유전자에서 확인된 sterol regulatory element-1 (SRE1)과 2개의 NF1 결합 부위가 존재한다.
