Target Information
The IL-12RB1/CD212 protein is a type I transmembrane receptor belonging to the hemopoietin receptor superfamily. It binds interleukin-12 (IL-12) with low affinity and forms part of the IL-12 receptor complex. The protein forms disulfide-linked oligomers essential for IL-12 binding activity. Coexpression with IL-12RB2 enables formation of high-affinity IL-12 binding sites and reconstitution of IL-12–dependent signaling. Deficiency of IL12RB1 expression can result in immunodeficiency with susceptibility to severe mycobacterial and Salmonella infections. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
