Target Information
Cardiac Troponin I (TnI) is an inhibitory protein in cardiac muscle, forming a complex with troponin C (TnC) and troponin T (TnT).
It regulates muscle contraction through calcium-mediated conformational changes.
Blood levels of TnI and TnT serve as diagnostic indicators of cardiac damage and help differentiate between angina and myocardial infarction.
Mutations in the Cardiac Troponin I gene are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy type 7 (CMH7) and familial restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM).
Cardiac Troponin I also inhibits angiogenesis in vivo and in vitro.
