Target Information
The protein encoded by the NBR1 gene was originally identified as an ovarian tumor antigen monitored in ovarian cancer. It contains a B-box/coiled coil motif, common in genes with transformation potential, though the precise function remains unknown. This gene is located on chromosome 17q21.1 near the tumor suppressor gene BRCA1. Three alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
