Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes CD85j, a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family. CD85j is a receptor for MHC Class I molecules, and ligand binding results in inhibitory signals and down-regulation of the immune response.

Target Information

This gene belongs to the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family, located in the 19q13.4 chromosomal region. The encoded protein is part of the subfamily B class of LIR receptors, containing two or four extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and two to four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs).
The receptor is expressed on immune cells, binds to MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells, and transduces a negative signal that inhibits immune stimulation. It is thought to regulate inflammatory responses and cytotoxicity, helping to focus the immune response and limit autoreactivity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
