Target Information
Slc6a13 catalyzes sodium- and chloride-dependent transport of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), terminating GABA-mediated synaptic activity. It functions as a high-affinity GABA transporter, reuptaking GABA into cells using sodium and chloride gradients. Slc6a13 may also facilitate beta-alanine transport.
Diseases associated with SLC6A13 include traumatic glaucoma and neovascular glaucoma.
