Target Information
Arginyl-tRNA-protein transferase (ATE1), also known as arginyltransferase 1, belongs to the R-transferase family of proteins. ATE1 is required for arginylation of proteins destined for degradation via the ubiquitin pathway. It catalyzes the posttranslational conjugation of arginine to N-terminal aspartate-, glutamate-, and possibly cysteine-containing substrates. ATE1 is a 518 amino acid protein, and alternative splicing produces two isoforms. It can localize to the cytoplasm and/or nucleus and functions as a monomer.
