Transcriptional coactivator involved in neuroepithelial stem cell differentiation and neurogenesis. Plays a role in lens epithelial cell gene regulation and stress responses. May contribute to lens epithelial to fiber cell terminal differentiation and protect against stress-induced apoptosis. Isoform 2 functions as a stronger transcriptional coactivator and may coordinate pre-mRNA splicing. Acts as a cellular cofactor for lentiviral integration.
