BRCA1 (Breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 1)는 핵 인산화 단백질로서 유전체 안정성을 유지하며 종양 억제 인자로 작용합니다. BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II 및 histone deacetylase complex와 상호작용하며, 전사 조절, DNA 이중가닥 절단 복구, 재조합 과정에 관여합니다.
BRCA1 유전자 변이는 약 40%의 유전성 유방암과 80% 이상의 유전성 유방 및 난소암의 원인으로 알려져 있습니다. 다양한 대체 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었으며, 일부는 질병 관련 돌연변이입니다.
