Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly expressed at either the N- or C-terminal region of recombinant proteins to enable purification via immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins even when specific antibodies are not available. His-tagged proteins are purified through metal chelate chromatography due to the histidine cluster’s affinity for metal ions such as Ni²⁺.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection and co-immunoprecipitation of His-tagged proteins.
