Target Information
Histones are nuclear proteins that play an important role in maintaining the structure of the chromosome in eukaryotes. The nucleosome is composed of about 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer consisting of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. H2A contributes to centromere function and assembly, and histones are also involved in gene regulation through modifications such as acetylation and phosphorylation.
