ERp72는 소포체 내강에 존재하는 단백질로, 스트레스 단백질이자 단백질 디설파이드 이성질화효소(PDI) 계열 단백질의 구성원입니다. 서열 분석 결과, ERp72는 PDI와 세 부분에서 서열 유사성을 가지며, C-말단에 ER 유지 신호(KEEL)를 포함합니다. 또한 ERp72는 CGHC 활성 부위를 세 번 포함하고 있으며, 이는 단백질 디설파이드 이성질화 과정에 관여하는 중요한 부위입니다. 이러한 특성으로 ERp72는 분자 샤페론으로 기능하는 CGHC 함유 단백질 계열의 새로운 구성원으로 제시됩니다.
