Target Information
The structure-specific ERCC1/XPF endonuclease complex is implicated in the repair of two distinct types of DNA lesions:
- NER (Nucleotide Excision Repair) for UV-induced lesions and bulky chemical adducts
- Recombination repair of genotoxic interstrand cross-links
In mammalian cells, XPG cleaves the 3′ side of the DNA lesion, while the ERCC1/XPF complex makes the 5′ incision.
ERCC1/XPF likely plays a role in processing partially repaired recombination intermediates.
