Target Information
LHCGR encodes the receptor for both luteinizing hormone and choriogonadotropin. It belongs to family 1 of G-protein coupled receptors (FSH/LSH/TSH superfamily).
The receptor functions as a gonadotropin receptor, regulating the development and function of Leydig cells in males and contributing to male secondary sexual characteristic development.
Mutations in this receptor can cause disorders such as familial male precocious puberty and male pseudohermaphroditism.
