Target Information
FAM161B is a 647 amino acid protein belonging to the FAM161 family. The FAM161B gene spans approximately 16,413 bases and is located on human chromosome 14q24.3. Chromosome 14 contains over 700 genes, accounting for about 3.5% of the human genome. It encodes several important genes such as Presenilin 1 (PSEN1), associated with Alzheimer’s disease, and SERPINA1, whose defects cause α1-antitrypsin deficiency leading to lung and liver disorders. Inversion of chromosome 14’s long arm has also been linked to T-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
