Target Information
HuD, also known as ELAV-like protein 4 (ELAVL4) or PNEM, is an RNA-binding protein encoded by the ELAVL4 gene located at 1p34. It has specificity for 3′ uridylate-rich untranslated regions of growth factor mRNAs. HuD is expressed only in neurons and binds to AU-rich element-containing mRNAs, increasing transcript half-life. It plays a crucial role in neuronal development and plasticity.
