Target Information
Syntaxins are a family of proteins involved in synaptic vesicle fusion with the plasma membrane. They have broad tissue distribution and contain carboxy-terminal hydrophobic domains that target them to specific intracellular compartments. Syntaxin 18 localizes mainly to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and functions in transport between the ER and Golgi. It also plays a role in ER-mediated phagocytosis, possibly regulating fusion between ER and plasma or phagosomal membranes.
