This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel protein superfamily containing two pore-forming P domains. The encoded protein homodimerizes and functions as an outwardly rectifying channel, primarily expressed in neural tissues and stimulated by membrane stretch and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
