Target Information
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme protein synthesized during myeloid differentiation and is a major component of neutrophil azurophilic granules. It is initially produced as a single-chain precursor and subsequently cleaved into light and heavy chains. The mature MPO forms a tetramer composed of two light chains and two heavy chains. This enzyme generates hypohalous acids critical for the microbicidal activity of neutrophils. MPO is associated with disorders such as Myeloperoxidase Deficiency and Familial Alzheimer’s Disease (Type 1).
