Product Specific Information

The HI149 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD1a, a 49 kDa protein expressed by cortical thymocytes and dendritic cells including Langerhans cells. CD1 family proteins share structural and functional similarities with MHC class I molecules but are non-polymorphic. CD1a associates with β2-microglobulin and plays a role in antigen presentation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on MOLT-4 cells; use 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 520 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related glycoprotein expressed with β2-microglobulin. Found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, certain T-cell leukemias, and other tissues. It mediates presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes (CD1a–e) located on chromosome 1, differing in cellular localization and lipid ligand specificity. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternative splicing variants have been observed but not validated biologically.
