Target Information
Ribosomes are the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. RPL13A encodes a ribosomal protein component of the 60S subunit, belonging to the L13P family, and is located in the cytoplasm. Transcript variants utilizing alternative polyA signals have been observed. The gene is co-transcribed with small nucleolar RNA genes U32, U33, U34, and U35 located in its introns. Multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome.
