The Peroxin family (>20 members) is essential for peroxisome biogenesis. Peroxin 11 proteins are known to promote peroxisome division across multiple species and play a direct role in peroxisomal fatty acid oxidation.
Peroxin 11gamma (PEX11G), also known as Peroxin-11C, is a 241 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the peroxin 11 family. It exists as two isoforms due to alternative splicing events.
