Target Information
Glucagon plays a key role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. It regulates blood glucose by increasing gluconeogenesis and decreasing glycolysis, acting as a counterregulatory hormone to insulin. GLP-1 stimulates glucose-dependent insulin release and influences gastric motility and glucagon suppression. GLP-2 promotes intestinal growth, increases villus height, enhances nutrient absorption, and decreases mucosal permeability. It also contributes to nutrient homeostasis and gastrointestinal function.
