Target Information
LILRB2 (ILT4) gene is a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family, located in the 19q13.4 chromosomal region. The protein belongs to the B subfamily of LIR receptors, containing two or four extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs).
This receptor is expressed on immune cells and binds to MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells, transmitting inhibitory signals that suppress immune activation. It plays a role in controlling inflammatory responses and cytotoxicity to focus immune reactions and prevent autoreactivity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
