Target Information
USP9X is an ubiquitin-specific protease involved in the removal and recycling of ubiquitin from proteins degraded in proteasomes.
As a deubiquitinating enzyme, USP9X plays a critical role in tight junction biogenesis by controlling EFA6 levels, facilitating tight junction formation prior to cell polarity establishment.
USP9X is located on the X-chromosome and escapes X-inactivation; defects may cause gonadal degeneration in Turner syndrome.
