Target Information
Sushi-repeat-containing protein X-linked 2 (SRPX2) is a neural gene functioning in the speech and language center of the human brain. Mutations in this gene lead to epilepsy, speech dyspraxia, mental retardation, and cognitive disorders.
SRPX2 acts as a novel mediator of angiogenesis and ligand for urokinase-type plasminogen activator, facilitating invasive migration of endothelial cells. It is overexpressed in gastric cancer, enhancing phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase and promoting cellular migration and adhesion.
Therefore, SRPX2 may serve as a potential target for metastatic cancer treatment.
