Product Specific Information

This antibody may be stored for up to twelve months without detectable loss of activity. Protect from prolonged exposure to light and do not freeze. Sodium azide is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly; flush with large volumes of water during disposal.

Target Information

The low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene family consists of cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. LDL binds at the cell membrane and is internalized into lysosomes, where the protein is degraded and cholesterol becomes available for regulation of HMG CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. Mutations in LDLR cause familial hypercholesterolemia, an autosomal dominant disorder. LDLR, along with SCARB1, CLDN1, and CD81, is also reported as an entry factor for Hepatitis C virus. At least three isoforms of LDLR are known to exist.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
