This 7G8 monoclonal antibody reacts with human 10-formyltetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase (ALDH1L1), a cytosolic enzyme involved in folate metabolism. It converts 10-formyltetrahydrofolate, NADP, and water to tetrahydrofolate, NADPH, and carbon dioxide.
Folate metabolism is essential for cell growth and proliferation, and reduced folate levels are associated with neural tube defects and increased cancer risk.
ALDH1L1 is expressed in glial cells and serves as a highly specific astrocyte marker, labeling both cell bodies and processes.
Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometry, western blotting, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested: Tested on human FFPE tissue using high and low pH antigen retrieval; low pH retrieval is optimal. Recommended use ≤ 1 µg/mL, with careful titration for optimal performance.
Target Information
ALDH1L1 catalyzes the conversion of 10-formyltetrahydrofolate, NADP, and water to tetrahydrofolate, NADPH, and carbon dioxide. This enzyme belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family and is responsible for formate oxidation in vivo.
Deficiencies in this gene can lead to formate accumulation and methanol poisoning.
