The Hot Start Taq Antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to Taq DNA polymerase. When bound, the enzyme becomes inactive, providing an antibody-mediated hot start that enhances PCR specificity and sensitivity. The inhibition is completely reversed when the temperature is raised during the first denaturing step of thermal cycling.
Target Information
Used in PCR due to high thermostability. It has a relatively high error rate because it lacks exonuclease proofreading functionality (Uniprot).
