Target Information

Poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation is an immediate DNA-damage-dependent post-translational modification of histones and other nuclear proteins that contributes to the survival of injured proliferating cells.
Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs) constitute a family of 18 proteins encoded by different genes, sharing a conserved catalytic domain. Among them, PARP-1 (113 kDa) and PARP-2 (62 kDa) are known to have catalytic activity stimulated by DNA strand breaks.
This family plays roles in cell proliferation and cell death, interacting with common partners and localizations, suggesting fine-tuned regulation of this modification process.
