Target Information
HES1 belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) family of transcription factors.
It functions as a transcriptional repressor of genes requiring bHLH proteins for their transcription.
The protein contains a unique basic domain with a helix-interrupting motif that binds to the N-box rather than the canonical E-box.
