RIPPLY2는 척추동물의 체절 형성(somitogenesis)에 필수적인 단백질을 암호화하는 핵 단백질로, WRPW 모티프를 포함하여 전사 억제 인자 Groucho와 상호작용합니다. 또한 C-말단에 Ripply homology domain/Bowline-DSCR-Ledgerline 보존 영역이 존재하여 전사 억제 기능에 관여합니다.
RIPPLY2 결손 생쥐는 출생 직후 사망하며, 체절 형성 결함으로 인한 축성 골격 이상을 보입니다. 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 전사 변이체가 생성됩니다.
