Target Information
Thyroid Peroxidase는 막결합형 당단백질을 암호화하는 유전자로, 갑상선 기능 유지에 필수적인 효소입니다. 이 단백질은 thyroglobulin 내 tyrosine 잔기의 요오드화 및 iodinated tyrosine 간의 phenoxy-ester 결합 형성을 촉진하여 thyroxine(T4) 및 triiodothyronine(T3) 생성에 관여합니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 선천성 갑상선기능저하증, 선천성 갑종, 갑상선 호르몬 합성 결함 등 다양한 갑상선 관련 질환을 유발할 수 있습니다. 여러 전사 변이가 보고되었으나 일부의 full-length 형태는 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았습니다.
TPO 관련 질환으로는 Thyroid Dyshormonogenesis 2A 및 Congenital Hypothyroidism이 알려져 있습니다.
