Target Information
THAP1 is a DNA-binding transcription regulator involved in endothelial cell proliferation and G1/S cell-cycle progression. It specifically binds the 5'-[AT]NTNN[GT]GGCA[AGT]-3' core DNA sequence and modulates expression of pRB-E2F cell-cycle target genes such as RRM1.
It forms part of the THAP1/THAP3-HCFC1-OGT complex required for transcriptional regulation of RRM1 and may also have pro-apoptotic activity by enhancing serum-withdrawal and TNF-induced apoptosis.
