This antibody detects endogenous levels of Smad2/3 only when phosphorylated at Threonine 8.
Target Information
Smad proteins are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) and act as downstream effectors of TGFβ/BMP signaling.
- Smad1 (Madr1, JV4-1) and Smad5: Effectors of BMP-2 and BMP-4.
- Smad2 (Madr2, JV18-1) and Smad3: Involved in TGFβ and Activin-mediated growth modulation.
- Smad4 (DPC4): Mediates activities through interactions with other Smad family members.
- Smad6 and Smad7: Negatively regulate Activin/TGFβ signaling by interfering with TGFβ-mediated phosphorylation.
