Target Information

This gene encodes one of three members of the Tribbles family. The Tribbles members share a Trb domain, homologous to protein serine-threonine kinases but lacking the active site lysine, and likely lack catalytic function. Tribbles proteins modulate signal transduction pathways in various physiological and pathological processes. This member induces apoptosis mainly in hematopoietic cells, is upregulated by inflammatory stimuli in myeloid (THP-1) cells, and acts as an oncogene that inactivates C/EBPα, leading to acute myelogenous leukemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
