Target Information
Activin A receptor type I (ACVR1) belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of signaling proteins. ACVR1 mediates transcriptional responses in cooperation with activin type II receptors. Mutations in ACVR1 are associated with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), a rare genetic disorder characterized by abnormal bone formation in muscles, tendons, and connective tissues, as well as Epicanthus.
