Calcyon은 단일 막관통 단백질로, D1 도파민 수용체와 상호작용합니다. 도파민은 학습 및 기억에 관여하는 시냅스 전달을 조절하는 신경전달물질입니다. D1 수용체는 중추신경계에서 가장 풍부한 도파민 수용체로, D2 수용체의 활성을 조절하고 다양한 행동 반응을 매개하며, 신경세포의 성장과 분화를 조절합니다. Calcyon은 대뇌피질과 해마의 신경세포체 및 돌기에서 발견되며, 특히 피라미드 뉴런에서 풍부하게 존재합니다. D1 수용체와의 상호작용은 세포 내 칼슘의 방출을 유도합니다.
