Target Information
The VPS4B gene encodes a member of the AAA protein family (ATPases associated with diverse cellular activities). It is a homolog of the yeast Vps4 protein, with two human paralogs identified. Both human paralogs share high sequence similarity with yeast Vps4 and mouse Skd1 proteins. Functional studies indicate their association with endosomal compartments and involvement in intracellular protein trafficking. The VPS4B gene is located on chromosome 18, while its paralog resides on chromosome 16.
