Target Information

CD36, also known as scavenger receptor class B member 3, is a membrane protein expressed on macrophages, platelets, adipocytes, and other cells.
It plays a key role in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and atherosclerosis.
CD36 mediates recognition and uptake of oxidized LDL, long-chain fatty acids, and apoptotic cells, and is implicated in malaria pathogenesis.
It functions as a receptor for thrombospondin and collagen, and mutations can cause Platelet Glycoprotein IV Deficiency and Coronary Heart Disease 7.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
