Target Information

Acetylation of lysine residues within proteins is an important mechanism used by cells to overcome this repression. Acetylation of both histone and non-histone proteins, such as transcription factors, contributes to chromatin remodeling and transcriptional activation. This modification can induce structural transitions and specific signaling within chromatin domains. Bromodomain recognition of acetylated lysine serves as a regulatory mechanism in protein-protein interactions involved in numerous cellular processes.
