Target Information
STAG2 is a component of the cohesin complex, which is required for the cohesion of sister chromatids after DNA replication. The cohesin complex forms a large proteinaceous ring that traps sister chromatids. During anaphase, the complex is cleaved and dissociates from chromatin, allowing segregation of chromatids. It may also play a role in spindle pole assembly during mitosis.
