Defects in COX3 are associated with:

Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON)
Cytochrome c oxidase deficiency (COX deficiency)
Mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes (MELAS)
Recurrent myoglobinuria
