배경 정보
The protein encoded by this gene is a small GTPase of the Rho-subfamily, regulating signaling pathways that control diverse cellular functions including cell morphology, migration, endocytosis, and cell cycle progression.
It is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc42 and can complement the yeast cdc42-1 mutant.
The product of oncogene Dbl catalyzes GDP dissociation from this protein.
CDC42 regulates actin polymerization through direct binding to Neural Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (N-WASP), activating the Arp2/3 complex.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
