Target Information

CNTNAP1 (Contactin-associated protein 1) is a 190 kDa protein associated with the contactin-PTPRZ1 complex. It consists of 1,384 amino acids and includes:

• An extracellular domain with multiple protein-protein interaction domains
• A transmembrane domain
• A 74-amino acid cytoplasmic domain

The extracellular domain architecture is similar to neurexins, suggesting that CNTNAP1 may act as the signaling subunit of contactin, facilitating intracellular signaling pathway activation in neurons.
Northern blot analysis shows predominant expression in brain tissue (6.2 kb transcript) with weak expression in other tissues.
