Target Information
APOL1 is a secreted high-density lipoprotein that binds to apolipoprotein A-I, a major component of HDL. It participates in the formation of plasma cholesteryl esters and promotes cholesterol efflux from cells. Members of the apolipoprotein L family, including APOL1, may play roles in lipid exchange, transport, and reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver.
