Target Information
The ACO2 protein belongs to the aconitase/IPM isomerase family and catalyzes the interconversion of citrate to isocitrate via cis-aconitate in the TCA cycle. Encoded in the nucleus, it functions within the mitochondrion and is one of the mitochondrial matrix proteins preferentially degraded by the serine protease PRSS15 (Lon protease) after oxidative modification.
