Target Information
The nuclear pore complex is a large structure spanning the nuclear envelope and functions as a gateway regulating macromolecular transport between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Nucleoporins are the main components of this complex in eukaryotic cells. The protein encoded by this gene is an FG-repeat-containing nucleoporin acting as a soluble cofactor in importin-α:β-mediated nuclear protein import. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on chromosomes 5, 6, and 14, and two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
